Smeralda Holding – the Italian company owned by the Qatar Investment Authority sovereign fund and owner since 2012 of real estate and land assets along the coastline of the Costa Smeralda – has announced the opening of its hotels for the 2020 summer season: the Hotel Cala di Volpe, the Hotel Romazzino, the Hotel Pitrizza, the Hotel Cervo and all the other tourist activities.
26 June will see the gradual and progressive recommencement of activity in all the properties: the 4 hotels – Cala di Volpe, Cervo, Pitrizza and Romazzino – all the restaurants and bars, the Nikki Beach club and the Waterfront, ready for a new cycle of exclusive events.
In addition to these venues are the activities that are already set up to welcome tourists, such as the Pevero Golf Club, which reopened to golfers at the end of May, and the Porto Cervo shipyard which recommenced activity at the beginning of June, while the Porto Cervo Marina has never closed.
“It was our desire to reopen all our activities earlier that the majority of tourist destinations in the Mediterranean – stated the CEO of Smeralda Holding Mario Ferraro – as a sign of support for the sector and to help restore the local economy in such a difficult period, even though the destination will begin to see significant tourist movement from 10 July onwards.
Thanks to its characteristics, the Costa Smeralda, with its uncontaminated nature and low tourist density, characterised by wide open spaces that are never crowded, is an ideal destination for a safe and tranquil holiday.
Despite the late opening of the borders and the limitations on flights until the end of June, the forecast is for progressive improvement of the season, in August reaching figures in terms of tourist movement that are almost in line with past seasons.”
The 2020 season will also be characterised by a number of important changes regarding the Group’s industrial investment plan, with the aim of rendering the Costa Smeralda even more unique, as well as continuing to enrich and diversify its offering to tourists.
In fact this year will see the Hotel Cala di Volpe opening with a new look, thanks to important refurbishing works designed by the French architect Bruno Moinard, which have involved the complete renovation of 70 rooms, the external terrace of the Cala di Volpe and a completely new feature; a spectacular 250-square metre suite with a private pool overlooking the sea and bearing the Harrods brand name.
“The Costa Smeralda is an exclusive destination and an important destination for domestic and international elite tourism – concluded the CEO of Smeralda Holding, Mario Ferraro – a place in which to experience an unparalleled, timeless and uncompromising form of hospitality that fully responds to the characteristics sought after in this new Summer. We as convinced as ever of the company mission that we have always proudly and passionately carried forward and which is now as topical as ever: ‘to allow everyone to live in a more welcoming world’”
